White-eared Hummingbird (Hylocharis leucotis), Miller Canyon, Cochise County

This White-eared Hummingbird was first seen by Karen Krebbs and her ASDM Hummingbird workshop on 18 April 2009 a the Beatty's Guest Ranch in Miller Canyon.  It was photographed by Michael Schwitters on 20 April 2009 and by Jerome Smith on 13 June 2009.  Last year the first White-eared Hummingbird at this location was detected on 6 May 2008.

White-eared Hummingbird is a rare summer resident of the high mountain canyons of Southeastern Arizona.  Beatty's is one of the most reliable locations for this species.
