Eastern Phoebe (Sayornis phoebe), North Dike of Topock Marsh, Mohave County

This Eastern Phoebe was discovered DeeDee DeLorenzo and David Vander Pluym and photographed by David Vander Pluym on 28 January 2011.

Rare but annual migrant and winter visitor.

White throat contrasting with a dark gray head. Plain gray upperparts and plain white underparts with an extensive yellow wash to the belly (not visible as the bird was behind a screen of vegetation in the photo). These points help to rule out a female Vermilion Flycatcher or a Gray Flycatcher.
