Berylline Hummingbird (Amazilia beryllina), Madera Canyon, Pima County

This Berylline Hummingbird was photographed by Laurens Halsey  at the Madera Kubo B&B on 11 July 2011. It has been at this location for a while but was not reported because access to this location was closed.

Rare but increasingly regular summer visitor to Arizona.  It has bred.

Note rufous or cinnamon wing panels, purple-bronze upper tail, and bright green head, throat, & back. Lack of white on the chin indicates that this is a male.
