White-eyed Vireo (Vireo griseus), Cibola Valley Conservation and Wildlife Management Area, La Paz County

This White-eyed Vireo was mist netted and photographed by Shannon McNeil on 10 August 2011.

There are about 30 records for White-eyed Vireo in Arizona and its occurrence has increased dramatically in the last decade.  This appears to be the most westerly report of this species in Arizona and a first county record.

This heavily molting individual can still be identified by its white eye and yellow lores.
