Rufous-backed Robin (Turdus rufopalliatus), Santa Cruz Flats, Pinal County

This Rufous-backed Robin was discovered and photographed by Richard Fray in a small pecan grove on 22 October 2011.

Rare but seemingly regular fall and winter visitor to southern Arizona with several usually reported every year.

Rusty back and upper wing coverts, dark streaking on mostly white throat, orange bill, and lack of white arcs around eye separate this species from American Robin.
