Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus), Evergreen Sod Farm, Pinal County

This Whimbrel was discovered and photographed by Gary Graves on 01 May 2013.

Rare migrant (usually spring), except in the Lower Colorado River Valley where it is considered uncommon.

Distinguished from Long-billed Curlew by striped head , gray-brown plumage and shorter bill.
