Slate-throated Redstart (Myioborus miniatus), Turkey Creek as it crosses FR42, just west of the FR42b junction, Chiricahua Mts., Cochise CountyThis Slate-throated Redstart was photographed by Alan Schmierer on 27 May 2014 There are only 7 previously accepted records of
this species for Arizona with another two pending. This
is also the third photographed report from the Chiricahua Mountains
this spring, some of which may pertain to the same
individual. This species is
distinctive with slate gray upperparts, black around the
face and throat, red belly, lack of white on the wing,
