Slate-throated Redstart (Myioborus miniatus), Southwest Research Station - Cave Creek Canyon, Cochise CountyThis Slate-throated Redstart was found by Joseph
Zummach and Eleanor Wooten on 13 May 2014 and
photographed by Stuart Angerer on 14 May. There are only 7 previously accepted records of
this species for Arizona with another two pending.
Although this is also the fourth photographed report
from the Chiricahua Mountains this spring, this appears
to be a unique individual. This
species is distinctive with slate gray upperparts, black
around the face and throat, red belly, lack of white on
