Slate-throated Redstart (Myioborus miniatus), Southwest Research Station - Cave Creek Canyon, Cochise County

This Slate-throated Redstart was found by Joseph Zummach and Eleanor Wooten on 13 May 2014 and photographed by Stuart Angerer on 14 May.

There are only 7 previously accepted records of this species for Arizona with another two pending. Although this is also the fourth photographed report from the Chiricahua Mountains this spring, this appears to be a unique individual.

This species is distinctive with slate gray upperparts, black around the face and throat, red belly, lack of white on the wing, red cap, white on the outer rectrices.
