Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus), Lake Cochise, Willcox, Cochise County

This Lesser Black-backed Gull was found and photographed by Daniel Brill on 08 September 2014

There are two accepted records for the state, with four pending records.

Bird is an apparent second-cycle Lesser Black-backed Gull. Features typical of Lesser Black-backed Gull include white background color to the body feathers with distinctly streaked dark brown markings; fairly long and somewhat heavy all-dark bill; wings long and fairly uniform dark above and below, lacking pale windows in the primaries; and rather dark slaty gray feathers coming in on the mantle.
