Reddish Egret (Egretta rufescens), Paloma Ranch west of Gila Bend, Maricopa County

This Reddish Egret was found by Joey Alsadi, Troy Corman, and Tom Lewis and photographed by Troy Corman on 20 September 2014 and Laurens Halsey on 21 September 2014

Casual fall visitor in Arizona. Nearly all records pertain to juveniles and likely from nesting areas along the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California) in Mexico.

Smaller than Great Egret, but much larger than Snowy Egret. Juveniles have an overall odd, creamy dark gray coloration with patchy pale rusty tones to head, neck, breast and wings; dark legs and dark, long straight bill; eyes very light
