Chestnut-collared Longspur (leucistic) (Calcarius ornatus), Curly Horse Rd (Las Cienegas), Santa Cruz County

This leucistic Chestnut-collared Longspur was found by Scott Ramos, Richard Fray, and Tim Helentjaris on 18 February 2015 and photographed by Keith Story on 21 February 2015.

An exceptional sighting of a leucistic longspur, this bird's identity is suggested mainly by the rarity of other longspur species in this area and supported by overall structure, as well as bill shape and color being apparently identical to its flock-mates.
