Louisiana Waterthrush (Parkesia motacilla), upper Verde River, Yavapai County

This Louisiana Waterthrush was found by David Moll on 10 Dec and photographed by David on 30 December 2014.

Louisiana Waterthrush is a very sparse transient and winter resident in southeastern Arizona. Away from there this species is casual at best with few previous Yavapai County records.

The thick white supercilium flaring behind the eye, clean white underparts withcrisp brown streaks (not dense) on the breast and flanks, bright pink legs, and unmarked white throat all point to Louisiana Waterthrush rather than Northern.
