Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula), Meteor Crater RV Park, Coconino County

This Common Grackle was found and photographed by Jason Wilder on 29 October 2017. A Common Grackle was also reported at this location 11 days prior (not yet submitted to the ABC) by John Coons and Chuck LaRue, but was not seen subsequently despite numerous attempts to relocate. Thus, it is unclear whether this represents the same bird.

Review list species with just over 30 records for the state and several more pending review. This species may be expanding its range in the southwest.

Iridescent blue head contrasting with bronzy back and and wings, stout bill, light eyes.
