McCown's Longspur (Rhynchophanes mccownii), Bonito Prairie, White Mountain Apache Reservation, Navajo County

This McCown's Longspur was found and photographed by Eric Hough on 21 November 2017

First record for Navajo County. Considered rare and decreasing across the state.

Longspur with large pink-orange bill, thick pale supercilium, chestnut median coverts, tan upperparts and white belly, tail mostly white with black T seen during flight (not visible here). The bright median coverts and apparent black bases to the breast feathers suggest an adult male.
