Broad-tailed Hummingbird (Selasphorus platycercus), Water Ranch, Gilbert, Arizona

This bird, discovered 11 February 2006 by Rich Hoyer, was at first identified as a Ruby-throated. There is still some question about some field marks and comment on this bird is encouraged on the AZ-NM listserv.
