White-eared Hummingbird (Hylocharis leucotis), Paradise, Cochise County

This male White-eared Hummingbird was seen starting on 13 August 2008 at the George Walker House feeders in Paradise (Jackie Lewis) and appeared to split time between the feeders there and the Cave Creek Ranch over the next couple of weeks.   It was photographed by Denise Shields on 17 August 2008

The extremely prominent, bright white eyebrow of both sexes of the White-eared Hummingbird is unmistakable.

White-eared Hummingbird is a rare summer resident in the mountains of Southeastern Arizona and is usually found coming to hummingbird feeders.
