Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus), Southwest Research Station, Cochise County
Carolina Wrens have been occurring farther west in recent years, with records in AZ and NM. The first Carolina Wren record accepted for AZ was a bird found at Cook's Lake near Dudleyville in 1999. The second was in Tolleson in September 2003. This bird has been present at the Southwest Research Station near Portal since 23 September 2005 when it was found by Tom Wurster. Carolina Wren is an Arizona Bird Committee review species. 12 February 2006 photo by Oliver Neihuis |
