Orchard Oriole (Icterus spurius), Gilbert Water Ranch, Maricopa County

The diminutive Orchard Oriole is a casual transient and winter visitor in Arizona. Several have spent the past few winters in the lowlands. This individual was found at the Gilbert Water Ranch beginning on 10/17/06 by Harold Bond. This review species is nicely documented by a photo by Harold and the photos by Brendon Grice shown here. Whether it will winter remains to be seen.
