Christmas Bird Counts and AZFO Sponsored Winter Surveys

The winter bird survey season is here and we encourage everyone to make a difference and participate in one or more of the many endeavors which help monitor the changing winter status of birds in Arizona. Of course this includes the famous Christmas Bird Counts (CBC) with 38 counts scattered around the state.

The CBC season is then quickly followed in January by two more AZFO sponsored and coordinated local surveys. This includes the annual Santa Cruz Flats raptor and the greater Phoenix area waterbird surveys, so there are many worthwhile opportunities in which you can participate throughout the winter.

More information for all these activities can be found on our website. For the CBC schedule visit our CBC page and for other scheduled surveys, please visit our Events page.

We look forward to seeing you in the field…
